In partnership with The Community Safety Volunteers of Douglas County and the Highlands Ranch Wal-Mart, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is sponsoring this year’s ”Christmas for Kids” shopping event on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
The “Christmas for Kids” program invites children identified by Deputies and Employees of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office to shop with Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies. Donated funds are used to purchase gift cards. These are provided to each child, giving them the opportunity to buy holiday gifts. Once the children arrive at the Wal-Mart store, they are paired with Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies for their shopping spree. The program aims to provide less fortunate children with holiday presents and build a relationship with local law enforcement.
Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly states, “We believe in the power of giving, and this program allows us to create lasting memories while fostering positive relationships with our deputies. Your support makes a genuine difference in the lives of these children, and we’re grateful for every contribution that helps bring smiles and joy during this special season.”
